In Compliance***The Quat test strips were discoloured at the end indicating they were not being used regularly. this may provide inaccurate readings and indicate that they are not used regularly. Ensure that the test strips used are the bright orange colour of the 0ppm on the colour chart prior to use. Education provided during the inspection and the discoloured end was removed.
***Pest control had been contacted for elimination of the small flying insects that were present. Seemed to be congregating in the non-served food display case. Staff eliminated the ones present.

***Staff was observed using a tool for compacting the garbage and then returning to food handling duties (using tongs). Hand washing should occur between non food related activities and food related activities.
***There were milk containers (9C) and cream containers (12C) present on the counters. Manager went and corrected during the discussion., Discussed ensuring that the staff are putting the containers back in the coolers promptly after use.
***flying insects were present in the facility. Discussed and pest control had already been contacted and were expected out within 24 hours.
***Some foods were not covered/protected from contamination. There were samples out on the counter and some open containers of product on the back shelf.,
***The emergency exit (with sign) was obstructed with a large garbage bin and blue bags. In the event of an emergency it would be difficult to exit using this door. Manager onsite indicated he had some ideas for corrective actions.,
***General sanitation needs improvement in the hard-to-reach area (behind the storage shelving units along the back wall). There was a buildup of debris under the shelving towards where the wall meets the floor.
