1) A food handler was observed handling a cell phone while wearing gloves and did not intend to change gloves before resuming food handling activities., , - The food handler was instructed to remove and discard gloves immediately after touching non-food contact items, such as a cell phone, wash hands, and put on a new pair of gloves before resuming food handling. Staff should be reminded that cell phones are a potential source of contamination and that gloves must be changed whenever they become contaminated or when switching tasks. Management should reinforce and monitor proper glove-use practices., , , 2) Food handler was observed putting on gloves without first washing their hands., , - Food handlers must wash their hands thoroughly with soap and warm water before donning gloves. Gloves are not a substitute for proper hand hygiene and must only be worn on clean hands. Staff were instructed on proper handwashing and glove-use procedures, and management should monitor compliance to ensure food is protected from contamination.
